In early December, 1980, five men who had previous barbershop experience gathered at the Pinecrest Inn and began what was to become the Golf Capital Chorus, a group dedicated to four part harmony singing for the pure joy of it. In 1981 they agreed to organize a local barbershop chapter of (SPEBSQSA) now, Barbershop Harmony Society International. On August 17, 1981 they received their official chapter charter. Every year since then we have performed an annual show designed to appeal to all residents of the Sandhill’s. The proceeds from these shows and other events we perform at, benefit local charities. The Chorus has contributed a total of $150,000 to the Sandhill’s Children’s Center and has donated more than $500,000 to area family oriented charities since its founding.
As the Chorus has grown, it has become more widely recognized. We have performed at the Civic Center in Raleigh, in Fayetteville, and at many other locations in central North Carolina. The Chorus also performed two shows in Hamlet as a benefit for the Roberdel School for Exceptional Children.
The Chorus presently has about 30 members. The Chorus also has quartets available to entertain your group and to help us raise money for our charities. on Contact Bill Noggle at rvrbill@gmail.com, or call him at 910-235-0070 about getting our chorus, an ensemble, or a quartet to sing for YOU!!!!!
